Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: choppy Air Temperature: 13 Sea Temperature: 14 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 25.8 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 37.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Considering I have been full of cold and had a dodgy knee since returning
from Turkey I was not overly keen on jumping into the cold North Sea !!!!
But the sun was shining and it was'nt too cold so after breakfast at the
dip I rigged my favourite combination of the 7.5 on the xantos, which again
proved perfect for most of the day.A little under at times to start with
and a little over in the afternoon as the wind increased, but to only have
one sail to put away in the cold at the end of the day is a bonus!!!! I
started off blasting past the kiters by the ferry rivermouth where it was
abit wild as the river current hit the open sea !!! After 25 n/m and with
the wind increasing I returned to the dip to change down as sailers were
using 5/6m sails but after a short break and with Mark S struggling to
waterstart his multi-cammed race sail (a wide luff full of water is a
nightmare) I sailed out to see if he was alright and found the wind had
eased down a fraction and had some fast and furious reaching.A great day
out on the water with alot of windsurfers/kiters out !!!! but the water is
definately getting colder - must hunt out the hat and gloves.I had a quick
blast on Marks new wave board a Starboard Kombat 117 !!!! with 6m a lively
board well suited to the conditions.
